Texas Pen Friends seeks to match older adults (mostly nursing home and assisted-living residents) with younger adults across the great state of Texas. Each pairing will be made based on each Pen Friend’s hobbies and interests. Once the pairs have been matched, the Junior Pen Friend will kick off the fun by reaching out to their counterpart via snail mail. It’s that easy!
Who We Are
Texas Pen Friends launched in the fall of 2020 in response to the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The entire world watched as nursing homes had to close their doors to visitors leaving residents feeling deprived of social interaction and causing many homes to turn to social media for public support.
While we loved the response these nursing homes were getting from the internet, we thought we could take things one step further. Texas Pen Friends wants to find each Senior Pen Friend their perfect match based on their interests, hobbies, and personality. We also want to ensure the safety of our Pen Friends by acting as the bridge between our junior and senior members.
